POSCO held its '2024 Sustainable Materials Forum' at COEX in Seoul from October 7th for a three-day event. This year, under the theme "Materials for a Sustainable Future, Innovation with Our Customers," over 1,000 attendees from more than 500 customer companies across key industries including automotive, shipbuilding, energy, construction, and electronics, such as Hyundai Motor, Toyota, Honda, Hanwha Ocean, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, Samsung Electronics, and LG Electronics, attended, making the event a success.

Now in its seventh edition, POSCO’s customer invitation event has been held biennially since 2010, and this year it was rebranded as the 'Sustainable Materials Forum' to reflect POSCO Group’s new management vision.

POSCO CEO Lee Si-woo expressed his gratitude for the unwavering support from customers in his welcoming address, stating, "POSCO Group prioritizes your growth and will continue to do our best to remain your trusted partner for success in the future."

This year’s forum featured 16 carefully selected lectures on a wide range of topics, moving beyond industry-specific talks to include themes like industrial economic outlook, ESG, and AI. Sessions specialized in steel and secondary battery materials industries were also included. The keynote lecture was delivered by renowned futurist and best-selling author Ross Dawson on "Innovation for a Sustainable Future." This was followed by lectures from Yonsei University’s Professor Son Il, Seoul National University’s Professor Jeong In-ho on "Low-Carbon Steel, Challenges and Opportunities," and Cornell University’s Professor Daniel Lee on "AI Technology and the Digital Transformation of Manufacturing," where they explored the challenges and opportunities faced by the manufacturing industry and strategies for survival in the future.

One of the key highlights of this year’s forum was the MEET UP program, which aimed to support customer success and foster networking among participating customer companies. The program offered a platform for interaction across industries and sectors of interest, creating opportunities for new business development. In addition, the exhibition format was revamped to allow customer companies to promote their products, with 44 companies participating, garnering positive feedback. Over 100 sales staff and engineers from POSCO’s Pohang and Gwangyang steelworks also attended, further enhancing customer satisfaction. On the final day, October 9th, POSCO offered overseas customers a tour program of the Pohang and Gwangyang steelworks, where they could see firsthand how the products they purchase are manufactured. A cultural experience program, including a tour of the Blue House, was also held in Seoul.
