Korea’s robotics solutions provider Thoth said Wednesday that its vehicle battery dispoal solution has been recognized with three innovation awards at this week's CES 2025 in Las Vegas.
Thoth's "DisMantleBot" technology determines whether a used battery should be dismnatled completely or partially, as well as suggesting the optimal dismantling method based on the level of remaining electricity. The solution then systematically disassembles the battery into basic components, such as anodes, cathodes and separators.
The company added the artificial intelligence-powered automatic solution also reduces risks associated with manual disposal, as leftover electricity in the batteries could cause severe electrocution incidents for workers or ignite fires if subjected to external impacts.
At this year's CES, the world's largest tech trade show, the solution won awards in the categories of “Sustainability & Energy/Power,” “Robotics” and “Human Security for All."
“DisMantleBot has achieved the highest standards of safety and efficiency required in the battery recycling industry,” said a Thoth official. “The recognition from CES would provide a valuable opportunity for us to help our global clients pursue sustainability in their business operations."
